Another experiment has created a strain of maize that produces a chemical substance capable of sterilizing human beings. The possibility of using such a strain for population control is something to be feared. 

It is feasible that this type of maize could be distributed to a target population as a means of forced sterilization, without consent or knowledge, similar to the controls enforced in Peru in the 1990’s.
