Varieties
from Maras
province -Cuzco region-, a proof of the biodiversity of Andean
corn. After being domesticated 8000 years ago in
México, in Perú new varieties were created.
Selection
and crossing adapted it to different terrains, climates,
nutritional needs and regional culinary traditions. This delicate process
couldn´t be replicated by today science.
Because
of its beauty
and the craftmanship involved in its making, corn has
credentials to be considered a work of art, just as precolumbian textile
art is.
